SCIENTIFIC SECRETARY'S REPORT

The Council took note of the report by the Scientific Secretary, Professor Stapnes, and endorsedDr Vierkorn-Rudolph's proposal that, in her capacity as Chairman of ESFRI, she should make a presentation on ESFRI matters at a forthcoming European Strategy Session.

STRATEGY UPDATE PLANNING

Update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics 2011-2012
(CERN/SPC/964 CERN-Council-S/075)

The Council took note of document CERN/SPC/964 CERN-Council-S/075 and, on the recommendation of the Scientific Policy Committee, unanimously decided to approve the remit for the forthcoming European Strategy for Particle Physics Update, as summarised in Section 2 of the document, subject to the minor drafting amendments agreed during the discussion. The Council further took note of the milestones and timeline set out in Section 3 of the document.
